How I Learned To Pray Like The Apostle Paul

This episode examines the priorities in prayer of the Apostle Paul as found in his New Testament letters. While praying for earthly needs, we should also pray with eternal perspectives in mind. We use a brief review of Ephesians 1:16-17 as a sample lesson in praying with Paul’s priorities.

My observations were derived from a book by Dr. D.A. Carson
“A Call To Spiritual Reformation; Priorities From Paul And His Prayers”

The Prayer of An Aging Woman

This minisode features the reading of an anonymous prayer called the Prayer of An Aging Woman. The writer showed great insight and humor as she cried out to God for her needs in the later years of her life. This prayer could easily be offered by any of us as we ourselves get older.

The Soldier’s Pocket Book

Civil-War-soldiers-reading-letter-from-home-631.jpg__800x600_q85_cropEpisode 94 features an exploration of and readings from “The Soldier’s Pocket Book”, a small devotional book created for soldiers fighting in the American Civil War (1861-1865).

While originally written for soldiers in the mid-19th century United States, its contents on prayer, Bible, hymns and exhortations on living the Christian life would make a fine devotional (for soldier or non-soldier) in the early 21st century.
